How to choose a RIVER power station

RIVER stations are the portable end of the EcoFlow lineup. In our catalog they range from the RIVER 2 (256Wh, 7.7 lb) up to the RIVER 2 Pro (768Wh, 18.2 lb), with RIVER 3 and RIVER 3 Plus in between. The RIVER 3 Plus is rated at 600W and can be expanded from 286Wh to 858Wh with an extra battery.

Two numbers decide which one fits. Watt-hours (Wh) tell you how long a station can run a device. Watts (W) tell you what it can run at once. A 60W laptop on a 256Wh station will run for roughly three to four hours once conversion losses are counted, while a 500W or 800W model handles bigger loads such as a small fan plus lights plus a laptop together.

For day trips and phone or camera charging, the RIVER 2 is enough. For a weekend of camping or light home backup, the RIVER 2 Max (512Wh, 500W) is the middle choice. For longer trips or RV use, the RIVER 2 Pro (768Wh, 800W) has the highest output of our RIVER stations. If you mainly want router and laptop backup at a desk, the RIVER 3 Plus with an extra battery is built for that job.

Most RIVER stations can be recharged from a wall outlet, a car, or a solar panel, so they suit trips where you are not near mains power. Not sure about your exact devices? Add up their watts and check the total against the station's output rating.

Frequently asked questions

Which RIVER is best for camping?

For a single day out, the RIVER 2 (256Wh) covers phones, lights and a camera. For a weekend, the RIVER 2 Max (512Wh) gives more headroom. For extended trips or RV use, the RIVER 2 Pro (768Wh, 800W) is the largest base capacity and highest output in our RIVER lineup.

How long does a RIVER take to charge?

The RIVER 2 and RIVER 2 Max reach a full charge from a wall outlet in about 60 minutes, and the RIVER 2 Pro in about 70 minutes. Exact times for every model are listed on each product page.

Can I add more capacity to a RIVER?

Yes on some models. The RIVER 3 Plus can be expanded from 286Wh to 858Wh with extra batteries. Check the compatible extra batteries on our accessories page before ordering.

How do I know what a RIVER can run?

Check the watt rating printed on each device and make sure the total stays below the station's AC output. Devices with motors can briefly draw more when they start, so leave some headroom.
